The film is a documentary about the life of Rebiya Kadeer. Before even showing it, Taiwan is experiencing the same exact phenomenon, which seems to occur whenever someone whispers Tibet or [...] The UN Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay, was recently quoted saying, “I followed with concern the recent disturbances in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region and those previously in the Tibetan Autonomous Region and surrounding areas. While condemning such violence and urging the Chinese authorities to respect human rights in upholding the law, I also encourage [...] The Public Security Ministry reported through Xinhua news that it had foiled a major bomb-making operation by six separatists in the Xinjiang province. The ethnicity of these men was not released, however their names were, which identified them as Uyghurs. This story was picked up by the Associated Press, and we here at the Blog [...] As you’ve probably read, there are sources indicating serious disturbances throughout the Xinjiang Province. In step with this, the Chinese government has completely locked down all international media within Xinjiang, and has implemented a curfew.
